Why Rice Cereal May Not Be the Best First Foods for Your Baby

Baby cerealEvery parent we have met wants the very best for their children. They want them to be happy, healthy and vibrant.

Unfortunately, when it comes to food, the very things that we were given as children as staples or that we have given our babies as first foods (or regular foods) may not be as nutritious as we think.

It’s even possible that some of the minor (or even major) health challenges that you may be dealing were put into motion early in life, from the very foods that made up a major part of your diet.

The reality is that your child’s digestive system develops in a very specific way and introducing the wrong food at the wrong time may potentially lead to a lifetime of health challenges.

Research has shown that feeding your baby the right foods at the right time not only helps develop and maintain a healthy digestive system, it also supports brain development and immune function. Babies are even more sensitive to foods because their digestive system and bodies are so rapidly developing and their capacity to produce enzymes which digest foods is limited.

Ensuring your child eats a nutrient dense diet that prioritises foods that are easily digestible in the early stages is essential for ensuring optimal digestive health and indeed health in general.

The problem is, with so much misinformation out there and well meaning friends or relatives, it’s hard to be certain about exactly how you should be starting your child off on their food journey.

To help you answer the question – how do I give my child the very best start to life and what foods are the best foods for my baby and child (as well as many more), we are put together two workshops that are essential for all parents.

Moving and Munching Worshop

On 20th and 27th April Dr Rosie Williams and Dr Tammy Hume, mothers and Chiropractors will be running our MOVING AND MUNCHING workshops. These workshops are designed with one thing in mind: helping you find the answers you need to give your child the best possible start in life.

The workshops are open to all parents and parents-to-be, as well as interested grandparents and relatives. After all, it takes a team to raise a healthy child!

At Family Chiropractic Bundaberg, we are passionate about empowering parents in our community with knowledge and resources that help them to raise happy, healthy kids.
